With a distinguished career spanning more than two decades, Mr Bijan Khoubehi is a highly experienced Consultant Urological Surgeon specialising in uro-oncology. He holds a senior NHS appointment at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, where he serves as Lead Clinician and MDT Lead for urology, and has been on the GMC Specialist Register for Urology since 2006.
Mr Khoubehi has extensive experience in robotic urological surgery and has performed robotic radical prostatectomy since 2007, making him one of the earliest adopters of the technique in the United Kingdom. As a high-volume robotic surgeon, his published outcomes for cancer control, continence recovery and preservation of sexual function compare favourably with those reported by leading international centres.
His clinical practice encompasses uro-oncology and general urology, with particular expertise in prostate, kidney, bladder and testicular cancer. His surgical practice includes nerve-sparing robotic prostatectomy and robotic renal surgery, alongside the assessment and treatment of benign prostate disease and a broad range of urinary tract conditions. Experienced in robotic, laparoscopic and open surgery, he selects the most appropriate approach according to each patient’s diagnosis, individual circumstances and treatment priorities.
Central to Mr Khoubehi’s practice is a meticulous and highly personalised approach to care. He places particular importance on thorough assessment and clear, honest discussion, ensuring patients understand their diagnosis and the treatment options available to them. From active surveillance to surgical treatment, his aim is to give patients the information and confidence they need to make informed decisions about their care.
Mr Khoubehi qualified with MBBS Honours in Surgery from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, now part of Imperial College London. Following his general urological training across London, he undertook two dedicated fellowship years in urological oncology at Charing Cross Hospital and The Royal Marsden Hospital. He was subsequently awarded an MD by the University of London for research into the role of the developmental gene PAX2 in prostate cancer and continues to contribute to the specialty through publications in peer-reviewed journals.
His clinical expertise has been recognised in Tatler’s doctors’ guide, and he has contributed to national media including i News, the Daily Mail and the Mirror. Throughout his practice, Mr Khoubehi remains committed to combining surgical expertise with thoughtful, evidence-based and individualised care.

Symptoms
What symptoms might I have?
You don’t need to have a diagnosis before seeking specialist advice. Mr Khoubehi sees both male and female patients with a wide range of urological concerns, from urinary symptoms and abnormal test results to findings identified on a scan. He can assess your concerns, explain what may be causing them and advise on any further tests or treatment that may be needed.
- Blood in your urine, even once and even if it has since settled
- A raised PSA result, or a PSA that is rising on repeat testing
- Difficulty passing urine, or a weak or slow urinary stream
- Needing to pass urine frequently, including waking at night
- A sudden, urgent need to pass urine that you can’t defer
- Feeling that your bladder doesn’t empty completely
- A lump, swelling or ache in a testicle
- Persistent pain in the flank, lower back or lower abdomen
- Discomfort on passing urine, or recurrent urinary infections
- Urinary leakage following prostate surgery
- An incidental kidney or bladder finding on a scan done for another reason
- A family history of prostate cancer, and uncertainty about screening
These symptoms can have many different causes, most of which are not cancer, and experiencing them does not necessarily mean that you have a particular condition. A consultation allows your consultant to assess your symptoms, arrange any necessary investigations and advise on the most suitable treatment, where needed. If you notice visible blood in your urine, you should seek medical advice promptly, either through your GP or by arranging an appointment with a urologist.

Mr Bijan Khoubehi is Chairman of London Urology Specialists, a consultant-led private practice providing specialist urological care across Central London, and one of its nine consultant urological surgeons. The practice is built around personalised, evidence-based care, combining clinical expertise with clear communication and a collaborative approach to patient management.
Together, the consultants provide comprehensive care across five specialist clinics: Urological Cancer, Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Stone Disease and Adolescent Urology. If your symptoms require expertise outside Mr Khoubehi’s specialist practice, you can be referred seamlessly to an appropriate colleague within London Urology Specialists, ensuring continuity of care without the need to seek treatment elsewhere.
The principal consulting rooms are at 18 Devonshire Street, on The Harley Street Clinic campus. Consultants also hold practising privileges at St John & St Elizabeth Hospital, Welbeck Hospital, Cleveland Clinic London and the Chelsea Outpatient Centre, offering patients a choice of convenient locations across London.

Do I need a referral from my GP?
A referral is not required to book a private consultation, and you are welcome to contact us directly. If you have any relevant test results, imaging or clinic letters, please share them with your consultant’s secretary before your appointment where possible.
If you are using private medical insurance, please check your policy beforehand, as your insurer may require a letter from a GP or another healthcare professional to authorise your consultation.

Bupa, AXA Health, Aviva, WPA, Cigna, Vitality, Allianz and Healix. We also work with a range of other insurance providers and embassies, subject to prior agreement and the provision of an appropriate letter of guarantee where required.

How much does a self-pay consultation cost?
For self-pay patients, a new patient consultation is £340 and a follow-up consultation is £230.
Please note that consultation fees do not include the cost of any additional investigations, procedures or treatment that may be recommended.

Can I be seen on the NHS?
Yes. Mr Khoubehi is Lead Clinician and MDT Lead for Urology at
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. If you would
like to be seen through the NHS, you will need a referral through
the usual NHS pathway. Your GP can advise you on the referral
process.
